Sad News

FbL here, again...

Bob is safely back from Iraq, but his father passed away today. As he'd mentioned in this post, Bob was anxious to go see his father, who had been hospitalized in Intensive Care. Fortunately they were able to see each other, but I received the following this evening from a friend who is taking care of email for Bob:
Bob's father died today. He must have been holding on, waiting for Bob; they were able to talk before he passed away.

I think Bob will be busy with his family for the rest of this week, so...it's going to be at least a couple of days before he gets back online.
Bob's father was a veteran of WWII, a member of the "Greatest Generation," a brother of those who are on the front lines today.

If you wish to send Bob and his family your condolences, please feel free to use the comment link below. I will make sure he gets them.

PS, Bob, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you do for us! Thank you for leaving your comforts of home, family and friends and going to a country full of sand and people who sometimes don't want you there.....all for US.....I'd love to be able to send you some care packages if you'd let me.....please give me your mailing information and lmk what your really are missing/wanting and i'll do everything I can to get it to you.....I remember sending packages to my dad and how much he enjoyed them....and how much they meant to me to be able to send them. Of course, that was all before emails and easier phone calls.....the only time he could call (even though he was a ranking officer) was in the middle of the night....I was 7, 8 and 9......and usually sound asleep when he called so NEVER got to talk to him....what I would have given to hear his voice and know I wasn't alone!

I'll read more of your family and stuff later.....but for now, know you are in my prayers and I really would like to send a package......please tell me how we can share than information without posting it here in public!

until then....

hugs and love!

It is a sad day for the American Legion family in Colorado to see a passing of another member. May the Richard's family know that there are people that do care and give their support at this time.

Thank you Annie, Colleen,Keith, The Puckett Family, William Gems Reeder, Mak.... I really appreciate the comments.

When I get back to Abilene, Texas next week I will show our Mom your comments. They were married for 63 years. Dad loved telling WWII Stories.

Thanks to 1SGT Darryl Eddings from Dallas and MSGT Craig Colton I was able to get from Dallas to Abilene before Dad passed away. 20 Minutes later he left us. It was almost like he was waiting for me.

Yesterday morning with the Navy he and MSGT Colton there too.. he received a proper Military Burial.
Thank you again for all the prayers and comments.

My deepest sympathy to you all. I understand how it feels to lose a parent. It is never easy to lose a loved one, so hold on to your faith and use it to lean on when you need strength to get through this journey.

My heart goes out to you. I wish there was something better to say other than I'm sorry and/or May god be with you. My grandfather (who practically raised me) gave me one of the two purple hearts he recieved for his duties during WWII. If your father was anything like my grandfather, a fearless loving person, I only wish he had had more time on this earth. I hope you and your family will be ok, and i truly due admire your work and will be checking in on you!
Always
Kristi

Dear Bob,

I was just going through the Blogs of note and saw this Blog.

And I'm glad I found it. I'm glad it has made it to the list.

When you lose someone very dear to you, no matter how many try to console you, the pain still remains.

So I just wanted to say, "May your dear dad rest in peace".

We humans live by one rule, time shall heal. Right? May your future be bright and filled with happiness always and forever.

Take Care,

Skorps

Wow! Thank you everybody for your comments on our Dads passing. He definitely knew where he was going. Someday we will see him again for eternity.

Fbl was right in suggesting that I set up this blog and I am so grateful to her for taking care of this for me.

Thank you again for all the comments and prayers.

Thank you for sharing your experience here so those who are stateside can remain aware of the work you do.

My condolences on your loss; it must be one of the hardest losses, that of a parent. I'm glad you got to see him.

Thank you for all you are doing for our military and our country in trying to get the real stories to you. Your father must have been so very proud of you and your work! Praise God that you were able to see him before his passing. We have just had two deaths in our family and know the pain and the loss... also the comfort of being together in eternity...
bless you and yours...

Bob, I sincerly respect all servicemen and veterans. Your father, a hero to America as are all soldiers, did a great thing for many people. I'm glad you were able to see him before he passed on. My grandfather, a WWII soldier, recently passed away. I was astounded. This man who had been there all my life was ... gone. He was always strong, and he was the head of our family. When he died I had to step up, and be strong for my family. As I am sure you will have to, but for now take the time you have to remember how much he has done for you. It will help the grieving process. With great sorrow, Tyler, a fellow warrior
